I simply wanted to let you know that some terrible news has been confirmed for Bologna before their match against Liverpool.

Bologna performance leader in race against time to shake off injury blow ahead of Liverpool clash

Bologna’s key player is racing against time to be ready for their Champions League match against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Vincenzo Italiano’s squad faced a setback over the weekend when top scorer Santiago Castro had to leave the game in the second half of their 1-1 draw with Atalanta due to a calf injury.

As reported by Quotidiano Sportivo, the 20-year-old is eager to recover in time for the match at Anfield and is determined to prove his fitness before kickoff.

Castro isn’t the only injury worry for Bologna; experienced midfielder Remo Freuler is also struggling after getting injured against the Europa League champions on Saturday.

If Castro is unable to shake off his injury, it would be a significant loss for Bologna. He is the only player in Italiano’s squad to have scored multiple goals this season, finding the net in each of his last three Serie A matches.

Should Castro not make it, his likely replacement, Thijs Dallinga, still poses a threat, having scored against Liverpool while at Toulouse in last autumn’s Europa League group stage, although he has yet to score for Bologna since his summer transfer.

Regardless of whether Castro or Dallinga leads the attack, Liverpool must remain vigilant defensively throughout the match, given the scoring ability of both forwards.

While Castro’s potential absence would be a tough blow for Bologna, we all hope he can recover quickly from his calf injury sustained over the weekend.
