A concerning injury update regarding Federico Chiesa was released today, indicating his absence from Liverpool’s latest training session at the AXA center, as reported by Sky Sports’ Vinny O’Connor.
On a brighter note, Darwin Nunez and Andy Robertson have returned to training as the team prepares for their match against Bologna.
Additionally, Diogo Jota is expected to have a brief recovery period.
Is Federico Chiesa injured?
Arne Slot has confirmed that Federico Chiesa’s injury is not serious, and he may return in time for the match against Selhurst Park this weekend.
“Federico trained with us yesterday but had some issues today. I don’t expect him to play tomorrow, which is disappointing for him, especially since he was looking forward to a Champions League match at Anfield against an Italian team,” the Dutch manager said during his pre-match press conference (via liverpoolfc.com).
When asked about the duration of Chiesa’s absence, Slot noted, “It’s hard to say since it happened recently, but I don’t think it will keep him out for long. He won’t be available for this game, but we’ll see if he can play on Saturday. At worst, it’ll be after the international break.”
This news is unfortunate, considering Chiesa has had limited playing time this season, appearing just three times for Liverpool and totaling 78 minutes. He has already contributed one assist, helping Diogo Jota equalize against West Ham in the Carabao Cup.
