Arne Slot explains the only strict rule he’s brought in at Liverpool in huge change from Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed the one big change he has implemented since taking over from legendary boss Jurgen Klopp.

Slot became Liverpool’s manager in July, succeeding Klopp, who had a highly successful nine-year tenure. Since his arrival, the Dutch manager has impressed fans by winning eight out of nine matches this season and has not conceded more than one goal in any game.

Recently, Slot shared a key change he made upon taking over, which might help explain his early success. Discussing the new rules he introduced, the 46-year-old told Sky Sports that there was already a strong culture of punctuality among the players, and he dislikes discussing fines for lateness, as being on time should be the norm.

He noted that one significant change he implemented was moving away from the practice of staying in hotels the night before games. He and his staff believe that players perform best when they sleep in their own beds, so now, before home games, the players stay at home rather than in a hotel.

After a commanding 2-0 victory over Bologna in the Champions League on Wednesday, Liverpool will head to Selhurst Park for a Premier League match against Crystal Palace on Saturday, just before the second international break of the season.

Upon returning from international duty, the Reds will encounter a challenging schedule leading up to the year’s end, facing tough opponents like Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Real Madrid, and Manchester City in their next ten matches.

Slot acknowledged the favorable run he has had so far but noted that this will soon change following Tuesday’s Champions League win. He remarked, “Every fixture in the Premier League is tough, but everyone tells me that it’s harder to beat a team at the top of the league than one at the bottom… and we haven’t faced one of them yet.”
