Liverpool fans are only just realising whether Giorgi Mamardashvili can be ‘recalled’ after Alisson injury

Alisson was substituted due to injury during the match against Crystal Palace, prompting renewed attention on Giorgi Mamardashvili’s contract with Liverpool. The club had a quiet summer transfer window, with manager Arne Slot only signing two players, including Mamardashvili, who transferred from Valencia for £29 million. However, he will remain with Valencia until the end of the season.

Reports indicate that there is no clause allowing Liverpool to bring Mamardashvili in during the January transfer window due to Alisson’s injury. Mamardashvili has played seven matches for Valencia this season.

In the game against Palace, Alisson was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury, and Vítezslav Jaros stepped in for his Liverpool debut since Caoimhin Kelleher was unavailable due to illness. If Alisson’s injury is serious, Slot will look to Kelleher, who has made two appearances this season and had 26 last year. If Kelleher cannot play, Jaros will have to continue, having kept a clean sheet upon his introduction.

Despite the injury setback, Liverpool secured a 1-0 victory over Palace, maintaining their strong start with six wins out of seven league games.
