A Spanish legend humiliates Vinicius Junior: « C’is for that I prefer Yamal »

C’ is one of the provocative statements fueling discussions in Spain regarding the best current player. Marcos Senna, a former Spanish international of Brazilian descent, has voiced his preference for Lamine Yamal over Vinicius Junior, backing his viewpoint with solid reasoning.

Vinicius Junior is a strong contender for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, following an outstanding season marked by remarkable performances in the Champions League. The 24-year-old Brazilian has captured the attention of many football analysts, with most anticipating that he will clinch the prestigious award this year. Known for his dazzling and dynamic style, Vini is a key player for Real Madrid. In a recent La Liga match against Villarreal, he showcased his abilities, remaining the most aggressive player in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad when it comes to one-on-one duels, even if he isn’t the team’s leading dribbler.

Senna’s bold comments have ignited a lively debate. The Spanish legend criticized Vinicius Junior, stating, “That’s why I prefer Yamal.” According to Senna, a former Villarreal player, Vinicius falls short of being a complete player. In an interview with *Mundo Deportivo*, the 48-year-old former defensive midfielder argued that Barcelona’s young star Lamine Yamal is more well-rounded, noting that the 17-year-old only lacks speed to become an ideal dribbler.

“I prefer Lamine Yamal to Vinicius because he can ‘pause’ like Messi. He’s more involved in the game, offers greater variety in his passing, has a better shot, and is more aesthetically pleasing in one-on-one situations. If he had Vini’s speed, he’d be the perfect dribbler,” Senna remarked, stirring reactions throughout Spain.

Regardless of differing opinions, it’s clear that Vinicius continues to develop each season. Criticized when he joined Real Madrid in 2018, the Brazilian has worked diligently to establish himself among the world’s best players. As reported by *Media Relevo*, the 24-year-old is in contention for the Ballon d’Or this season, competing with Rodri, Mbappé, Haaland, and others. Moreover, Real Madrid is already preparing for the ceremony to honor their standout player.
