Barcelona, Man United receive transfer boost as Nico Williams addresses his future at Athletic Bilbao

Nico Williams has been a prominent figure in the transfer market, attracting interest from major clubs like Barcelona and Manchester United. Although he was linked to a transfer during the last window, with Barcelona reportedly activating his €55 million release clause, Williams opted to remain at Athletic Bilbao to pursue European competition.

Despite this, speculation about his departure continues. Barcelona is likely to renew their interest next summer, and Premier League teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool are keeping an eye on him. In an interview with El Mundo, Williams stated that he is focused on the current season and committed to helping Athletic Bilbao, particularly with their goal of reaching the Europa League final at San Mames.

Amidst the ongoing rumors, Williams has reiterated his dedication to the club and his contentment in Bilbao. However, the possibility of a future transfer remains, with Barcelona and Manchester United preparing to act next summer.

Williams has faced a difficult start to the 2024-25 season, managing only one goal and one assist in nine matches due to injuries. Still, his impressive performance in the 2023-24 season, where he scored eight goals and provided 19 assists, along with a strong showing at Euro 2024, keeps him in demand on the transfer market.

Although he may miss out on the Spain squad for the ongoing UEFA Nations League due to a hip issue, his future will be closely monitored as the next transfer window approaches.
