The asking price for an upcoming replacement for Virgil van Dijk has been revealed to Liverpool, which are surprised.

Liverpool could sign Sevilla centre-back Loic Bade to replace Virgil van Dijk for as little as €20m (£16.7m), a report has revealed.

Liverpool is planning for a future without Virgil van Dijk, whose contract is nearing its end. Loic Bade from Sevilla has been suggested as a potential replacement.

Van Dijk, who turned 33 this summer, is nearing the last six months of his contract at Anfield. While the situation regarding his contract extension is unclear, it’s evident he is approaching the end of his time with the club.

Sevilla’s Loic Bade has been identified as a potential replacement. The 24-year-old defender, who did not play during his loan at Nottingham Forest in the 2022/23 season, has shown promise since moving to Spain and is considered a candidate for a significant transfer.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Sevilla would entertain offers around €20 million for Bade, largely due to their financial difficulties.

This marks the first time a specific figure has been mentioned for Liverpool, though Sevilla has previously indicated their willingness to negotiate a lower price. AS noted last month that Sevilla views Bade as their most valuable player and attempted to sell him for approximately €20 million in the summer. He turned down a move to Stuttgart and rejected a late Roma offer that didn’t allow Sevilla enough time to find a replacement.

In response, Sevilla extended Bade’s contract until 2029, increasing his release clause from €42 million (£35 million) to €60 million (£50 million), but they remain open to selling him for “considerably less.”

Bade’s strong performances earned him his first call-up to the French national team for the October international break, although he did not play in the matches against Israel and Belgium.
