Mika Biereth, a former Arsenal striker currently playing for Austrian club Sturm Graz, has expressed his desire to eventually return to the Premier League and Arsenal.
The 20-year-old Dane, who struggled to make a mark at Arsenal, told TV2 that while he is focused on performing well with Sturm Graz, he hopes to reunite with the Gunners in the future. Biereth joined Arsenal from Fulham in 2021 but found it challenging to secure a regular spot in Mikel Arteta’s lineup.
His time at Arsenal included multiple loan spells, including stints at RKC Waalwijk, Motherwell, and now Sturm Graz, where he has impressed enough for a permanent transfer.
Despite his successes in Austria, Biereth is committed to his goal of playing for Arsenal in the Premier League again. “Things are going well at Sturm Graz. I play every week at a good level, and we’re also competing in the Champions League, where I’m still waiting for my first goal,” he remarked.
He pointed out that while he aims to excel at his current club, he remains open to a return to North London if the opportunity arises. “A return to Arsenal would be fantastic, but it’s not my focus right now,” he said.
Biereth’s time at Arsenal was primarily spent on the bench or out on loan, as he could not secure a consistent place in the squad. Since his departure, Arsenal has not shown interest in re-signing him, and Arteta has expressed satisfaction with the current attacking lineup.
Arteta’s forwards, including Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Leandro Trossard, have all contributed to Arsenal’s recent success, leading to a decision not to pursue new striker signings during the summer transfer window, despite speculation about high-profile targets like Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
Although Gabriel Jesus has faced fitness issues and inconsistent performances, Arteta remains confident in his ability to lead the attack.
Nevertheless, Arsenal continues to be linked with potential striker signings, raising questions about Jesus’s long-term future and the club’s plans for reinforcements.
For now, Biereth’s path back to Arsenal remains uncertain. While he dreams of a return, the club has not indicated any interest in bringing him back. However, if he continues to perform well at Sturm Graz, where he is getting regular first-team action and competing in the Champions League, he might catch Arsenal’s attention once more.
Should that occur, Biereth could have another chance to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium and fulfill his aspiration of playing in the Premier League.
