Real Madrid “regret” signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, according to a Spanish journalist, who has explained why Los Blancos are “gutted” at the transfer.
After his much-anticipated transfer to Madrid last summer, Kylian Mbappe has scored seven goals in 11 matches across all competitions. He expressed satisfaction with his performances, stating, “Things are going very well… I’ve finally been scoring goals.”
However, Spanish journalist Romain Molina suggests that Real Madrid is not entirely pleased with the signing. On the YouTube channel Colinterview, Molina claimed that the club has regrets about bringing Mbappe on board. He noted that the decision was largely driven by president Florentino Perez, who has a long-standing admiration for star players.
Molina mentioned that the club is disappointed with Mbappe’s performance levels, which are not meeting expectations. He also highlighted a concerning “physical drop-off” in Mbappe’s fitness at just 25 years old, suggesting it’s unprecedented for someone his age. He pointed out that unlike Jude Bellingham, Mbappe didn’t have a pre-season and has struggled to match the physical standards expected at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti stated that Kylian Mbappe is close to full fitness as he recovers from a muscle injury. “He’s made good use of the break to improve his condition,” Ancelotti noted. “He’s feeling great, happy, and eager to return and contribute to the team.”
Ancelotti emphasized that the 15-day break has been beneficial for Mbappe, who is now a different player compared to before. He confirmed that tactically, Mbappe’s role remains consistent with recent games, allowing him to alternate positions on the left wing with Vinicius. The focus during this time has been on physical training, and Ancelotti expressed confidence in Mbappe’s improved condition.
