BARCELONABarcelona will have to stump up €60-70 million for Lewandowski replacement target

Barcelona superstar Robert Lewandowski is performing exceptionally well this season and seems likely to win the Pichichi Trophy, despite less than a third of the La Liga season being completed.

However, with the next season approaching, Lewandowski will be turning 37, prompting Barça to consider future plans and potential long-term replacements for the veteran striker.

Erling Haaland from Manchester City is a top target for Barcelona president Joan Laporta. However, given the challenges in securing the Norwegian, the club is also exploring other options, including Viktor Gyokeres.

Barcelona is considering Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres as a potential replacement for Lewandowski, especially given his impressive performance since last season.

Gyokeres would command a transfer fee of around €60-70 million, according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg. The 26-year-old Swede has already netted 14 goals in 14 matches this season.

However, Gyokeres is also attracting attention from Premier League clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. He is under contract with Sporting until 2028, which includes a significant €100 million release clause. Despite this, there is an understanding between the player and the club to consider offers around €60-70 million.

A transfer this winter seems unlikely, but Gyokeres is expected to be available in the summer of 2025. With this knowledge, Barcelona must now decide whether to pursue him or explore other alternatives.
