🔥🏟️Arsenal and Newcastle strengthen as Euro giants open door to sign current most expensive Champions League striker

Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United are monitoring a striker looking to cement his status as an elite number nine, and his recent Champions League performance marks a significant milestone in his career.

Destined to be one of the most sought-after free agents of 2025, Jonathan David scored a standout goal in early October.

Few can claim to have netted a winning goal against Real Madrid in the Champions League, but David achieved this by converting a penalty past Thibaut Courtois, igniting celebrations at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Recently, Atletico Madrid faced their own disappointments.

Sources indicate that clubs including Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Brighton, and West Ham are closely following David. His calm conversion of a late penalty against Jan Oblak at the Wanda Metropolitano highlighted his poise under pressure, contrasting with Cristiano Ronaldo’s missed opportunity for Portugal.

David’s impressive performance in Spain only added to his and Lille’s triumphs.

Lille’s recent victories over both Real and Atletico in consecutive Champions League matches could enhance David’s market value as the club considers selling him in January.

David has reportedly informed Lille of his intention to leave when his contract expires next year, prompting the club to consider a winter sale.

In a boost for his Premier League suitors, AC Milan has opted out of the race for David, despite injuries to Tommy Abraham and Luka Jovic. Manager Paulo Fonseca expressed satisfaction with the current squad, including young talent Francesco Camarda, and indicated no need for additional forwards.

With Alvaro Morata already in the mix, Milan feels confident in their options for the number nine position.

Fabrizio Romano believes David is likely to leave Lille on a free transfer, with Arsenal and Liverpool among those interested.

David has scored 10 goals in 15 appearances this season, making him an appealing target for teams like Arsenal and Chelsea, who are in search of a top-tier striker. With Newcastle’s attack hampered by Callum Wilson’s injury, David could be a valuable acquisition, either on a free transfer or at a reduced price in January.

Romano notes that David will consider various factors, such as club projects and management, as he explores his options for a potential summer move, rather than rushing into a January decision.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that David’s teammate Lucas Chevalier could be a candidate to replace Ederson at Manchester City, following his impressive performances in goal for Lille.
