BREAKING NEWS: Sky Sports reporter has confirmed fantastic news for Liverpool this morning.

Liverpool is reportedly among four top Premier League clubs seriously interested in signing Viktor Gyokeres, a standout striker who has made an impressive start this season. The Reds had initially expressed interest during the summer transfer window after Gyokeres’ remarkable season with Sporting Lisbon, where he scored 43 goals last year. His scoring ability has kept him in high demand, and Liverpool seems to be actively tracking his performance.

On Tuesday, journalist Florian Plettenberg provided an update on Gyokeres’ situation via X (formerly Twitter). He noted that while the 26-year-old Swedish striker has a €100 million release clause, there’s an understanding at Sporting Lisbon that he might be available next summer for a reduced fee of around €60-70 million, or about £50-58 million. Plettenberg indicated that a transfer this winter is unlikely, with a summer move being more probable. He confirmed that Liverpool, alongside Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea, are aware of this potential opportunity.

Gyokeres has continued his impressive form this season, already scoring 18 goals in 18 appearances for Sporting Lisbon and the Swedish national team. Although the Portuguese league is often seen as less competitive than the Premier League, his record of 12 goals in nine league matches—including a crucial goal against Porto—is notable.

Liverpool’s interest in Gyokeres has intensified due to an injury crisis affecting their forwards. Diogo Jota is sidelined until after the November international break, further limiting Liverpool’s attacking options. Additionally, Federico Chiesa has faced fitness issues, rendering him unavailable for several matches. This depletion of attacking talent has heightened the club’s need for a reliable striker, making Gyokeres an appealing target.

However, Liverpool may face challenges in securing Gyokeres. The impending departure of Sporting Lisbon’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, who is expected to join Manchester United, could complicate the situation. Amorim’s exit might affect key players at Sporting, including Gyokeres and Goncalo Inacio, as they may hesitate to leave without a stable environment.

Given Liverpool’s urgent need for attacking reinforcements, a move for Gyokeres appears increasingly likely. However, the club will need to present a compelling offer to land him. Gyokeres’ goal-scoring talent and strong track record at Sporting make him a valuable asset for any top team, but Liverpool must also convince him that Anfield is the right place for his skills.
