Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that his potential move to Manchester United remains uncertain. Sporting CP announced that United expressed their intention to pay €10 million to trigger the Portuguese manager’s release clause, following Erik ten Hag’s anticipated departure from Old Trafford. Despite a contract extension in July, Ten Hag lost backing due to a series of poor performances that left United at a historic low in the Premier League.
On Monday, United officially parted ways with Ten Hag, as the team sits in 14th place in the league. Amorim quickly became a top candidate for the role after demonstrating his capabilities in Liga Portugal.
However, Amorim stated that his future with United is not yet clear, emphasizing that he will make a decision based on his own goals. In a press conference on Tuesday, he said, “Listen to the club statement; that’s all there is for now. Manchester United have shown interest in activating my clause, and when there’s something concrete, I’ll make a decision. But ultimately, it will be my choice, as long as all factors are not fully determined.”
He added, “I’ll do what I want to do, just as I always have as a player and manager. Right now, no decision has been made.”
