Neymar’s return from injury has faced a setback after he was substituted due to another injury during Monday’s AFC Champions League match against Esteghlal.
The Brazilian entered the game as a substitute in the 58th minute but had to leave in the 87th minute after seemingly suffering a muscle injury while trying to extend his right leg for a pass from Marcos Leonardo.
He gingerly exited the play and quickly indicated to the bench that he needed to be replaced. While Neymar walked off the field on his own, he appeared visibly frustrated on the sidelines as he dealt with yet another fitness concern.
Despite this, Al Hilal secured a 3-0 victory, thanks to a hat trick from Aleksandar Mitrović.
After missing a year due to a torn ACL sustained while playing for Brazil, Neymar returned to the field on October 21 with a 13-minute appearance in a Champions League match against Al Ain.
Monday marked just his second appearance since coming back, as he wasn’t registered for the first half of the Saudi Pro League season.
Al Hilal has two more Saudi Pro League matches lined up before their next Champions League game, scheduled for November 26 against Al Sadd.
