Live from anfield, A shocking decision has been made by Liverpool about Andy Robertson’s future at Anfield

Liverpool is reportedly set to begin contract negotiations with one of their players in the near future.

Contract issues have been a frequent topic among Reds fans recently, with key players like Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold all having contracts that expire at the end of this season.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Monday that Liverpool are “working on” a new deal for Ibrahima Konate, and it’s expected to be “only a matter of time” before an agreement is reached with the French defender. Additionally, there’s another player in Arne Slot’s squad who could soon be in talks about his future.

**Liverpool Planning Robertson Contract Talks**
Football Insider reports that Andy Robertson remains Jurgen Klopp’s preferred choice at left-back, and as a result, Liverpool plans to initiate contract discussions with the Scotland captain next summer, a year before his current contract expires.

Anfield officials are keen to avoid a repeat of the uncertainty they face with Salah, Trent, and Van Dijk, and given Robertson’s leadership role in the squad alongside those players and Alisson Becker, he continues to be an important figure in the team’s dressing room.

**Robertson Remains a Key Figure at Liverpool**
While Andy Robertson’s recent form has faced some criticism, especially following a challenging performance against Arsenal in late October, his value to Liverpool should not be overlooked. It’s no coincidence that Steven Gerrard once hailed him as “world-class.”

If Liverpool were to lose any or all of Mo Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk, it’s crucial that the team maintains leadership continuity within the squad. Robertson, as one of the team’s senior figures, would be essential in providing that stability.

At 30, Robertson still has much to contribute at Anfield in the coming years, and with a weekly wage of £160,000 – the fourth-highest at the club (Capology) – he is not on an exorbitant salary for a club of Liverpool’s stature.

As long as Robertson remains a regular starter under Jurgen Klopp, it seems likely he’d be content to continue his career on Merseyside. Hopefully, any future contract discussions will be handled smoothly, without the drama surrounding the contracts of Salah, Trent, and Van Dijk.
