Liverpool handed major boost in pursuit of Real Madrid star with over 100 appearances
Liverpool have received a major boost in their pursuit of a new midfielder, with reports suggesting that Real Madrid are contemplating selling Aurelien Tchouameni next summer.
Although Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have impressed, Arne Slot is expected to seek a new central midfielder at the end of the season to strengthen his squad depth.
Tchouameni remains one of the top candidates linked to a move to Anfield for next season.
The 24-year-old is considered one of Real Madrid’s top talents, reflected in his £83 million (€100 million) price tag.
However, despite recent improvements in his form, the French midfielder has yet to fully meet expectations since his transfer from Monaco two and a half years ago.
As a result, according to a recent report from Fichajes, Real Madrid are considering cutting their losses and may be open to offers for Aurelien Tchouameni once the summer 2025 transfer window opens.
This news is likely to benefit Liverpool, who have long had Tchouameni on their radar.
After missing out on Martin Zubimendi three months ago, Arne Slot might revisit the possibility of signing the Real Sociedad midfielder in January, but is more likely to focus on pursuing a player who is more attainable.
Since joining Madrid, Tchouameni has made 103 appearances, scoring three goals and providing five assists in all competitions.
