Hansi Flick has openly admitted to some mistakes, acknowledging that certain decisions made over the summer are now being re-evaluated. While Barcelona is currently enjoying strong performances, as reflected in their impressive results, the German coach still sees areas for improvement.
According to *Sport*, Flick confessed that allowing a player who could have been valuable at this stage to leave was a mistake. That player is Alex Valle, who had an outstanding pre-season and impressed during friendly matches. Valle was initially expected to remain with the team but was ultimately loaned out.
The report explained that Flick couldn’t guarantee Valle a regular starting position, so he decided to keep Gerard Martin and allowed the young Spanish player, who had multiple offers, to move to another club.
Since then, Valle has enjoyed regular playing time in the Scottish Premier League and has also featured in the Champions League—experiences he hadn’t received at Barcelona. After a brief adjustment period, Valle has become a key player for Celtic, and his strong performances have drawn the attention of Barcelona.
The club is now closely monitoring his progress and growing increasingly confident in his potential. Flick believes Valle possesses the ideal physical and technical qualities for Barcelona and would be a perfect fit to eventually replace Alejandro Balde. As a result, Flick plans to bring Valle back to Barcelona in 2025 after his loan expires.
Earlier, Joan Laporta and Deco had been considering signing a new left-back. However, following recent developments, they have decided to place their trust in Valle, who will return to Barcelona in 2025 instead of pursuing an external signing.
