Hansi Flick, currently managing FC Barcelona, has garnered the support of Barcelona fans for his bold decision to give La Masia talents a chance in the first team. Players like Marc Bernal (until his serious injury) and Marc Casadó, a rising international star, have benefited from Flick’s trust.
However, the club remains vigilant in the transfer market, and one player who has emerged as a key target for the summer of 2025 is Alphonso Davies. The 24-year-old Canadian left-back from Bayern Munich will be out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to agree to an extension. His agent, Nedal Huoseh, recently clarified to Fabrizio Romano that reports of a “closed deal” with any club are false, and that many options remain open, including a potential renewal with Bayern.
While speculation about a move to Real Madrid in June 2025 has been strong, Barcelona’s interest is more cautious, as reported by MD. The club has not ruled out pursuing Davies, a player Flick knows well from their time together at Bayern.
Some figures close to Bayern, like former Ballon d’Or winner Lothar Matthäus, have expressed admiration for Flick’s ability to attract top players. Matthäus recently spoke about Joshua Kimmich’s future, noting that like Davies, Kimmich’s contract also expires in June 2025 and he has yet to renew.
Matthäus praised Kimmich as an “exemplary professional” and predicted he and Jamal Musiala would lead the club in the future. While Kimmich’s name has faded from Barcelona’s radar, especially after the emergence of Casadó, Davies’ name is gaining more prominence.
Meanwhile, Kimmich, at 29, continues to be linked with Real Madrid as a potential replacement for Toni Kroos, though his future remains uncertain. As for Davies, despite rumors of a deal with Real Madrid, the situation remains open.
