Liverpool ‘planning shock move for £50m Premier League star’ as swap deal planned

Liverpool are ‘planning’ a move for an in-form Premier League forward – but they may have to compete with a rival to sign the player.

Liverpool have had a strong start to the season, with new manager Arne Slot leading the team to 15 wins in his first 17 games in charge. The Reds are also top of both the Premier League and their 36-team Champions League group phase.

However, one of the challenges Slot faced upon his arrival was the lack of new signings during the summer transfer window. Only Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili were brought in, with Mamardashvili immediately loaned back to Valencia for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Although Liverpool attempted and failed to sign Real Sociedad’s defensive midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Ryan Gravenberch has adapted well to the role.

Despite the positive outlook, there are concerns surrounding the contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil van Dijk, all of whom are set to be out of contract at the end of the season.

Now, according to *The Sun*, Liverpool are considering a potential move for Salah’s replacement. The club is reportedly interested in 25-year-old Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, who has been in excellent form, scoring eight goals in 11 appearances this season. Mbeumo primarily plays as a right forward/winger, a role similar to Salah’s position in Liverpool’s lineup.

Liverpool are reportedly planning a move for Brentford’s in-form forward, Bryan Mbeumo, as they look to strengthen their squad. The Premier League leaders are said to be interested in the 25-year-old, who has been in impressive form this season, scoring eight goals in 11 appearances. Mbeumo, a right forward/winger, is seen as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

However, Liverpool face competition for Mbeumo from Newcastle United, who are also keen on the player. Eddie Howe’s side is reportedly considering offering Callum Wilson as part of a £50 million deal to secure Mbeumo’s services, though it is unclear whether talks have begun between the clubs.

Mbeumo has previously expressed a desire to play for top clubs in bigger competitions, hinting at a potential move away from Brentford. His current contract runs until June 2026, but with increased interest from top clubs, his future at Brentford could soon be in doubt.
