Ruben Amorim tipped to ‘say goodbye’ to Ten Hag signing in brutal Man Utd transfer call

Rúben Amorim’s impending appointment as Manchester United’s new manager has sparked significant transfer speculation, particularly concerning the future of goalkeeper Andre Onana. Onana, who joined the club in a £47 million move from Inter Milan in 2023, has had a turbulent start to his Old Trafford career, with early mistakes raising doubts about his suitability. However, his performances have improved recently, and he has become one of the club’s standout players. Despite this, reports indicate that Amorim may not see Onana as part of his long-term plans, with the Portuguese coach reportedly willing to sell the goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

Several clubs across Europe, including teams from the Premier League, La Liga, and Serie A, are said to be interested in signing Onana if he becomes available. However, the report also suggests that Onana may not be replaced immediately, indicating some uncertainty about his future.

Alongside Onana, Amorim is expected to make several other significant changes to the squad. According to sources, the new manager plans to offload players like Victor Lindelöf, Christian Eriksen, Antony, and Casemiro in January. Lindelöf and Eriksen, whose contracts are nearing expiry, could leave as free agents in the summer if not sold. Antony and Casemiro, whose high wages are reportedly not justified by their performances, could also be sold, with Manchester United reportedly seeking around £25 million for each player.

Amorim has already identified potential reinforcements, targeting players from his former club, Sporting CP. Marcus Edwards, a dynamic winger, is reportedly at the top of his list to replace Antony, while Geovany Quenda and Pedro Gonçalves have also been earmarked as potential additions to boost the team’s attacking options.

In the goalkeeper department, back-up Altay Bayindir is reportedly unhappy with his limited role at the club and may seek a move in January.

Amorim’s appointment signals a new era for Manchester United, with significant changes expected in both the squad and tactics. The potential departures of key players, alongside the uncertainty surrounding Onana, indicate that the January transfer window will be a critical period for the club as they look to rebuild and strengthen under their new manager.
