Maybe…’ – Arne Slot delivers Trent injury update ahead of Liverpool v Real Madrid

Arne Slot has given an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s fitness ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

The Reds’ vice-captain sustained a hamstring injury during the victory over Aston Villa earlier this month and was unavailable for the trip to Southampton on Sunday. However, he took part in training today as he prepares for the upcoming match against Los Blancos tomorrow.

Slot provides an update on Trent’s injury:
During his pre-match press conference this afternoon, the LFC head coach shared updates on several players recovering from injuries, including the 26-year-old. Regarding the right-back’s availability for the Real Madrid match, Slot mentioned (via Liverpool Echo): “Trent is part of the squad but won’t be ready to start. He may play a few minutes, but ideally, only if absolutely necessary.”

Trent will certainly be missed, but Bradley is more than capable of stepping in.

After months of rumors linking Trent with a possible move to Real Madrid, his absence from Liverpool’s starting lineup tomorrow adds an ironic twist. Based on Slot’s comments, it appears the 26-year-old will start on the bench at Anfield, as he’s not yet ready to play, but the coach would be hesitant to use him unless absolutely necessary.

While it’s clear that the vice-captain will be missed against the Champions League holders, there may be a silver lining in him not playing against Real Madrid, given the ongoing transfer rumors.

The positive for Liverpool is that they have another talented right-back in Conor Bradley. Facing Real Madrid will be a tough challenge, but Bradley has already proven he can handle high-pressure situations with the first team.

This match may come too soon for Trent, but Slot’s update indicates that he should be ready for the match againstManchester City next Sunday!
