Several Barcelona players are dissatisfied with their roles under Hansi Flick and are seriously considering their future prospects. They are unhappy with their secondary positions and are eager for more regular playing time. However, given the strong competition in their positions, it seems unlikely that their situations will change anytime soon. As a result, some players are already preparing to leave the club, with the winter transfer window fast approaching.
According to El Nacional, one of the main players likely to depart in January is Eric Garcia, who has not yet recovered from an injury sustained a few weeks ago. It’s possible that his last match for Barcelona has already occurred, perhaps without him realizing it.
Garcia began the season as a regular starter, playing in several matches due to injuries to key central defenders and midfielders. This was why Barcelona did not sell him in the summer, despite receiving tempting offers, including one from Girona worth over 10 million euros. After the departures of Clément Lenglet and Mickaël Faye, Hansi Flick opted to keep Garcia in the squad.
Flick couldn’t afford to leave the team short of options in defense, so Garcia was given playing time, even though he hadn’t fully proven himself. His form has not matched his performance from the previous season, leading to his exclusion from Flick’s current plans.
With Frenkie de Jong, Pablo Páez “Gavi,” and Fermin López fully fit, and Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araujo nearing recovery, Garcia is finding it harder to secure a spot in the lineup.
Given this situation, Garcia has decided that leaving Barcelona is the best option for his career. He has asked Joan Laporta to consider all offers, whether loan or permanent transfer, and has made it clear that he will not resist if an opportunity to leave arises.
It is expected that Garcia will be allowed to depart, with several clubs already showing interest in signing him.
