Although the 2024/25 season is far from halfway through, Barcelona is already planning for the 2025 summer transfer window, focusing on strengthening their squad for the upcoming campaign.
As previously mentioned, the club is prioritizing the acquisition of a new left-winger, as well as aiming to strengthen their full-back positions.
Simultaneously, there are expected to be significant departures, with Barcelona likely to part ways with players who no longer fit into Hansi Flick’s plans.
According to Fichajes, Barcelona has identified three players they are considering letting go in the summer transfer window next year.
Frenkie de Jong
As one of the club’s captains, Frenkie de Jong may be nearing an exit from Barcelona due to his high wages, contract situation, and the growing competition in midfield.
Barcelona had made a contract renewal offer to the Dutch midfielder last year, but he has not responded. With his contract running until 2026, the 27-year-old will be entering the final year of his deal in the summer, prompting the club to consider selling him.
If he is unwilling to leave, there is a possibility that Barcelona may opt to terminate his contract and free themselves from his substantial salary.

After returning from a disappointing loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, Ansu Fati was given another opportunity under Hansi Flick, but he struggled to make an impact before being sidelined by yet another injury.
The La Masia graduate has suffered two injuries this season and now finds himself far down the pecking order at Barcelona. Once considered the heir to Lionel Messi, Fati’s rapid decline has been disappointing.
While a loan move in January could be a possibility, it seems highly likely that Barcelona will seek to part ways with the young forward on a permanent basis in the summer.
Ferran Torres
Since joining from Manchester City, Ferran Torres has not met the expectations set for him. Although he has shown some value as a substitute, he has not been able to reach the level needed to compete for a starting position.
With players like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha establishing themselves in attack, and Barcelona aiming to sign another winger in the summer, Torres’ future at the club appears uncertain.
