After the tough loss to Las Palmas… On Laporta’s orders, Barcelona is close to terminating its player’s contract in January

Las Palmas shocked Barcelona by defeating them 2-1 in their Spanish League match on Saturday, which was part of the 15th round of fixtures.

As a result, Barcelona remains at the top of the league with 34 points, 4 points ahead of their rivals Real Madrid, who have two games left to play. If Real Madrid wins those matches, they could surpass Barcelona.

According to the Catalan newspaper Sport, this defeat has caused concern for Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, who feels the need to take decisive actions before the situation deteriorates further and the team’s season falls apart.

The newspaper also reported that Laporta is frustrated with the performance of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Laporta believes that De Jong has not been fighting for the team’s badge, not pressing enough, and has been showing a lack of effort on the field. Despite Barcelona offering De Jong a contract renewal, he has yet to respond.

The report adds that Laporta is now seriously considering terminating De Jong’s contract in January. The aim is to offload the player, relieve the club of his hefty salary, and bring in a more effective player to strengthen the team. The president reportedly no longer wants De Jong at the club and is actively seeking a way to remove him.
