Why did Lamine Yamal play with Messi’s name on his boots?

Last Saturday, prior to the match between FC Barcelona and Las Palmas, a photograph of Lamine Yamal caught global attention. The cameras revealed an inscription on the sole of his boots, piquing the curiosity of fans everywhere.

The name engraved on Yamal’s boots was that of Leo Messi. Although this isn’t the first time Yamal has worn this particular boot model, the inscription appeared in a less noticeable spot, surprising many viewers during the match.

The reason behind Yamal sporting Messi’s name is tied to a special campaign by Adidas, the German sportswear brand that sponsors both the young Spaniard and the Argentine legend.

As part of the campaign, Messi chose 10 players to have his name on their boots. These players include Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Vicky Lopez, promising talents from both the men’s and women’s teams.

The full list of players also includes Joel Ndala, Claudio Echeverri, Kenan Yildiz, Jaedyn Shaw, Antonio Nusa, Eliesse Ben Seghir, Assan Ouedraogo, and Cavan Sullivan.
