FC Barcelona’s winless run in La Liga has reached three matches following a 2-1 defeat to relegation-threatened Las Palmas at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The loss was further compounded by an injury to Alejandro Balde in the first half.
Las Palmas took the lead early in the second half through Sandro Ramírez, but Barcelona quickly equalized with a goal from Raphinha. However, Fabio Silva netted the decisive goal for Las Palmas, securing an unexpected win for the visitors.
Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, was critical of his team’s performance, stating they did not do enough to deserve a win. Flick expressed frustration over the team’s inability to make the most of scoring chances, saying, “We didn’t play well. The team tried for a good result, but today wasn’t our day. We weren’t effective and didn’t take advantage of the opportunities we had.”
Flick also noted that the team’s recent struggles stem from a failure to control games and create chances. “When we control the games, we play well and create chances, but when we don’t, it’s our issue,” he remarked.
The German coach pointed out that the team’s difficulties are not limited to the defense but are a collective problem. “It’s not just about the defense, it’s a team issue. We need to defend better, and if we don’t score, it’s harder to keep a clean sheet,” he explained.
Flick also updated on Lamine Yamal, who returned from injury in the match. “After two weeks without team training, it’s good he could come back and play a few minutes, especially with the upcoming game against Mallorca. It’s positive that he played 45 minutes and should be able to start against Mallorca,” he said.
