Liverpool Star Poised to Sign New Deal After Landmark Compromise Reached

Liverpool Player Set to Sign New Contract After Reaching Major Compromise

A Liverpool player is reportedly close to securing a new contract that will extend his stay at Anfield.

Liverpool has made a strong start to the 2024/25 season, sitting atop both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League standings. Under the management of Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer, the team has suffered only one defeat, a surprising 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

Liverpool’s match against Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday was postponed due to bad weather conditions. Despite their impressive form, there have been growing concerns about the contract status of several key players at the club.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold could leave on free transfers at the end of the season if new deals aren’t agreed. Salah himself recently admitted he hadn’t received any offers from the club regarding a new contract.

“We’re almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club,” Salah said following Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Southampton last month. “I’m probably more out than in. I’ve been at this club for many years, and there’s no club like this, but ultimately, it’s not in my hands. It’s December, and nothing has been discussed yet about my future.”

However, reports surfaced on Saturday indicating that Salah is close to agreeing to a new deal with Liverpool. According to The Mirror, Salah is nearing a two-year contract extension, putting to rest any uncertainty about his future at Anfield.

The report revealed that a compromise has been reached between the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, and the 32-year-old Egyptian forward after months of negotiations. Salah’s agent, Rammy Abbas, had initially asked for a three-year deal, while the club was only willing to offer a one-year extension after the current contract expires next summer.

Following the postponement of the Everton match, Liverpool will resume action on Tuesday, facing Girona in the Champions League.
