Arne Slot tears into his Liverpool players despite 1-0 win over Girona and shocks everyone in press conference

Liverpool manager Arne Slot was not happy with his side despite the Reds maintaining their 100 per cent record to the Champions League group stage with a 1-0 win over Girona.

Mohamed Salah’s penalty in the second half proved to be the difference between the two teams, as Liverpool extended their perfect record in the competition’s new format, winning every match.

With one more point, they will secure a place in the last 16 as one of the eight automatic qualifiers.

However, Slot was still dissatisfied with his team’s performance in Spain after the match.

He said, “We need to raise our standards if we want to succeed in this competition. I’m not happy with today’s performance, particularly for two reasons. Whenever we lost possession, we lacked aggression, and they were able to reach our goal. We had little control. I’m trying to stay positive.”
