Luis Diaz may have subtly given Liverpool fans the news they’ve been longing to hear

Luis Diaz may have indirectly hinted at the news that Liverpool fans are eagerly anticipating this Christmas.

While the Reds are comfortably leading the Premier League and Champions League standings, supporters have been anxious due to uncertainty surrounding the futures of Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom are set to be out of contract in six months.

The club has extended offers to all three players, and negotiations are ongoing, with Diaz expressing confidence that at least one of them will soon sign a new deal.

Diaz may have dropped a subtle hint about Salah’s future
Speaking to TNT Sports Mexico after Liverpool’s victory over Girona on Tuesday, Diaz was asked about Salah, who scored his 16th goal of the season with a match-winning penalty in Spain.

The Colombian winger praised the Egyptian forward, saying, “It’s crazy; his numbers are incredible. He is an extraordinary player, a player who motivates you to play well. It’s great to learn from him because he plays alongside you, and it’s a privilege. I’m also very happy for him and what he’s achieving.

“This isn’t just from today or yesterday. He has been doing this for many years and several seasons, so obviously, he will continue like this.”

Has Diaz just given us the news we’ve all been hoping for?

Liverpool fans are likely to have taken notice of Diaz’s comment that Salah “is going to continue like this” — a subtle suggestion that the Egyptian forward might be set to sign a new contract at Anfield.

It might simply be Diaz acknowledging Salah’s remarkable consistency, as the Egyptian has scored at least 23 goals in each of his seven full seasons with the Reds and appears on track to keep that streak going this year.

However, given the current uncertainty surrounding Salah’s contract situation, Diaz’s choice of words won’t go unnoticed by Liverpool supporters. It seems that, like the rest of us, Diaz is eager for Salah to stay at Anfield for a little longer.

Salah has set the bar for goalscoring at Liverpool over the years, and Diaz is one of the players who has raised his own performance to ensure that the Egyptian’s contributions don’t go to waste, with the Colombian currently the second-highest scorer for the team this season with nine goals.

It’s safe to say that a new contract for Mo is likely at the top of every Liverpool fan’s Christmas wish list… over to you, FSG!
