Bayern Munich’s left-back Alphonso Davies is approaching the end of his contract, and in a few weeks, he will be eligible to begin talks for a free transfer to a foreign club for the next season.
Given his status as one of the top left-backs in the world at just 24 years old, it’s not surprising that speculation about his future is ongoing. There’s still uncertainty about whether Davies will leave Bayern or sign an extension, but if he moves to the Premier League, Liverpool is considered the most likely destination.
This information comes from Fabrizio Romano, who reported that multiple sources within the industry believe Liverpool could be his next move, despite the club downplaying such rumors.
Liverpool might want to consider planning for a long-term replacement for Andrew Robertson, who has shown occasional signs of a dip in form this season.
Davies, however, is reportedly not interested in a move to Manchester United.
The Athletic also reports that Davies may not consider Manchester United an appealing option at the moment, which isn’t entirely unexpected.
While Manchester United remains a major club and global brand, they are in the midst of a tough transitional phase and seem unlikely to secure Champions League qualification for next season.
In contrast, Liverpool appears to be in a much stronger position and seems set for continued success under new manager Arne Slot, who has excelled since taking over from the legendary Jurgen Klopp in the summer.
