Barcelona forward set to undergo tests after fresh injury; doubt for Atletico Madrid game

Barcelona’s recent 1-0 loss at home to Leganes was a tough blow, made worse by an injury to their star forward, Lamine Yamal.

In the 15th minute, Yamal suffered a severe tackle from Neyou, which targeted his right ankle—a part of his body already affected by injury this season.

Although in noticeable pain, Yamal continued to play for another 50 minutes, even after being assessed during halftime.

His performance was lackluster; he was not as energetic as usual, avoiding the ball and moving from his usual right-wing position to a less effective central role.

Yamal is scheduled for further medical tests on Monday to assess the condition of his right ankle, as reported by Diario AS.

This injury is particularly worrisome as it comes after Yamal previously suffered a grade one syndesmosis injury to the same ankle during a match against Red Star on November 6.

That injury initially kept him out for two to three weeks, causing him to miss key games against Real Sociedad, Celta de Vigo, and Brest.

Will Yamal be ready for the match against Atletico Madrid?
With the crucial match against Atletico Madrid just days away, marking the final game of 2024, Barcelona’s chances of having Yamal available are slim.

The club is preparing for the possibility that he may not recover in time for this important fixture.

Yamal’s absence could be a significant setback for Barcelona, especially given how the team has struggled without him.
