Goodbye to Barça? Joan Laporta Decides: He’s Leaving in January with Hansi Flick’s OK

Joan Laporta is in the process of planning next season’s squad and has encountered an unexpected challenge. After several weeks of attempting to negotiate a contract renewal, no agreement has been reached, leading to the decision to sell him immediately. This concerns Áron Yaakobishvili, a goalkeeper from the youth team whose contract expires on June 30.

Relevo has reported that Yaakobishvili is now seeking a new opportunity after being shut out by Barcelona. He was even left out of the Youth League squad for the match against Borussia Dortmund. With numerous goalkeepers ahead of him, the Hungarian finds himself blocked, and the plan is for him to move on.

Joan Laporta has made his position clear: if Áron Yaakobishvili wants to leave, he can go, but it must happen immediately. The president of FC Barcelona is hoping to receive some financial compensation for the young player. If he doesn’t depart before the transfer window closes, Yaakobishvili will leave for free when his contract expires.

Yaakobishvili Isn’t Indispensable: Laporta Has Already Found His New Ter Stegen
The truth is that Áron Yaakobishvili is not irreplaceable at Barcelona. While he is seen as a promising talent, he is not regarded as the most potential-filled goalkeeper in the youth system.

Joan Laporta has already identified his “new Ter Stegen” and has secured his renewal until 2028: Diego Kochen. The 18-year-old American goalkeeper, who plays as the main starter for FC Barcelona Atlètic, is expected to continue developing in the years ahead. His technical and physical abilities have earned him high praise, and Laporta is particularly excited about his future.

The plan is for Kochen to eventually become FC Barcelona’s starting goalkeeper in the coming years, which has led to the closure of opportunities for the Hungarian, who is currently with Juvenil A. However, it’s still too early to make definitive predictions. What is certain is that Áron Yaakobishvili will be leaving, either this January or next summer when his contract expires.
