Mo Salah creates remarkable piece of Premier League history against Spurs that’s never been done before

Mo Salah has created a new Premier League record thanks to his exploits on the pitch in Liverpool’s win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool will top the Premier League table after their 6-3 away win against the North London team, now holding a four-point lead over second-placed Chelsea.

Luis Diaz opened the scoring for Jürgen Klopp’s side, followed by Alexis Mac Allister doubling the lead, although James Maddison pulled one back for Spurs just before halftime.

However, Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s two-goal advantage in first-half stoppage time.

Mohamed Salah scored twice in the second half as Liverpool added six goals on the road, with Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke netting for Tottenham in the final 20 minutes. Diaz completed his brace, scoring the final goal for Liverpool just before the end.

Salah continues to shine as Liverpool’s key player this season, a role he has played since his arrival from Roma in 2017.

With his contract expiring at the end of this season, the Egypt international hinted last month that he is more likely to leave than stay at the club. He stated, “It’s almost December, and I haven’t received any offers to stay, so I’m probably more out than in. I’ve been at the club for many years, and there’s no place like it. But ultimately, it’s not up to me. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s December and I still haven’t heard anything about my future.”

Mo Salah has set a new Premier League record with his outstanding performance in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

With this win, Liverpool sits at the top of the Premier League, four points ahead of second-placed Chelsea. The match saw Luis Diaz open the scoring for Liverpool, followed by Alexis Mac Allister doubling the lead. Tottenham’s James Maddison pulled one back before halftime, but Dominik Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s two-goal advantage just before the break.

In the second half, Salah scored twice, and with additional goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke for Spurs, Diaz sealed the win with his second goal. Salah’s contributions—two goals and assists for Szoboszlai and Diaz—helped him make history.

The Egypt international is now the first player in Premier League history to score 10 goals and provide 10 assists before Christmas, marking an extraordinary achievement.

Salah, whose contract expires at the end of this season, has expressed uncertainty about his future. He mentioned last month that he is closer to leaving than staying at Liverpool, as he hasn’t received any offers for a contract extension. He remains focused on winning trophies with Liverpool, including the Premier League and Champions League, while awaiting clarity on his future. As of January, Salah could sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs abroad.
