Real Madrid are ‘open to offers’ for a highly-rated player, according to reports – and a move could have a huge bearing on the Premier League title race.
Liverpool have reportedly received the “green light” for a high-profile transfer from Real Madrid, which could significantly impact their Premier League title chase. According to reports, Madrid is open to offers for a highly-rated player, and a potential move could be pivotal for Liverpool’s pursuit of the league title this season.
Liverpool has long been linked with this player, and with the team currently topping both the Premier League and their Champions League group stage under manager Arne Slot, this transfer could provide the added boost needed to secure their position. Mohamed Salah is in outstanding form, having scored 18 goals and assisted 15 in 24 appearances this season. Virgil van Dijk remains solid, and Ryan Gravenberch has impressed in his new role.
However, concerns about squad depth, especially in central midfield, remain. If Gravenberch suffers an injury, the alternatives, such as Wataru Endo, may not meet the level required for a title challenge. Liverpool’s failure to sign Martin Zubimendi last summer left them short in this area, but recent reports suggest that the club could be eyeing a move for Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Arne Slot has reportedly approved a potential move for Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni, with the La Liga club said to be open to offers that align with their financial interests. Tchouaméni, 24, was signed by Madrid from Monaco for £68.3m plus £17m in add-ons in the summer of 2022, as per BBC Sport. Despite his evident talent, he has struggled to make an impact at Madrid and has even been deployed as a centre-back on several occasions this season.
His contract runs until June 2028, and Transfermarkt values him at €100m (£83m). However, it remains uncertain whether Liverpool would be willing to invest such a large sum in a player with potential rather than proven success. In November, Fichajes reported that Liverpool was preparing a £50m bid for Tchouaméni. The midfielder had previously been linked with a move to Anfield before joining Madrid and had expressed his admiration for both Madrid and Liverpool, stating he enjoyed watching games from both leagues.
“I like both [Real] Madrid and Liverpool; I can watch Spanish games and English games,” he told CNN in 2022. “It’s different to play in Spain, and it’s different to play in England, but at the end, for me, it’s just a matter of adaptation.” He also mentioned his ambition, adding, “I’m an ambitious person.”
