Joan Laporta has outlined an ambitious plan to reinforce Barcelona’s squad during the upcoming winter transfer window. By activating a new financial lever, the club president has secured the necessary funds to operate more freely in January, with a focus on securing three key signings to strengthen the team in crucial positions. These priorities include reinforcements for the left and right-back spots, as well as a striker capable of making a significant impact in the second half of the season.
After a period of financial difficulties, this new economic strategy has enabled Barcelona to shift their approach. Laporta and his team have worked to ensure the registration of current players like Dani Olmo while simultaneously paving the way for new signings. Several notable names are being considered.
At left-back, Álvaro Carreras, a promising talent from Benfica, tops the list. His addition would complement Alejandro Balde, giving coach Hansi Flick more options for squad rotation in a busy season. On the right side, attention is on Rayo Vallecano’s Ratiu, a player known for his defensive skills and attacking contributions. With Jules Koundé as the only option for this position, Ratiu could be an ideal reinforcement.
In attack, the club is targeting big names such as Rafael Leão and Joshua Kimmich. While signing either player would be a major acquisition, Laporta believes that Barcelona’s new financial flexibility puts them in a strong position to compete for at least one of them. Milan’s Leão would add speed, dribbling ability, and goal-scoring prowess to the attack, while Kimmich, with his versatility and midfield expertise, would elevate the team’s overall level.
Barcelona has already begun talks with the representatives of these players, although competition from other top European clubs is expected. Despite this, Laporta is determined to send a strong signal in the transfer market and restore Barcelona to its elite status, both on and off the field. The winter transfer window is approaching, bringing a sense of optimism to the club.
