Alexis Mac Allister maintains that Liverpool will remain focused despite their strong start to the Premier League season as they prepare for the second half of the campaign.
The Reds, currently six points ahead at the top with a game in hand, are gearing up for a crucial match against rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, ended 2024 with a dominant 5-0 victory over West Ham United, marking their 23rd win in 27 matches across all competitions.
The team resumed training on Thursday after a short break, fully determined to extend United’s struggles, with their rivals currently sitting 14th after three consecutive league defeats under Ruben Amorim.
Reflecting on Liverpool’s season so far, Mac Allister stated: “We’re in a great moment, and the atmosphere in the squad is fantastic. But at a club like this, complacency has no place. Our focus is always on the next match and continuing to win.”
The Argentine midfielder, who reached 50 Premier League appearances against West Ham, also highlighted the importance of squad depth: “Whether starting or coming on as a substitute, every player is vital. Winning trophies requires everyone to step up when needed.”
This season, Mac Allister has adapted to a defensive midfield role under Slot and has been a regular presence, missing only two games due to suspension.
Commenting on Slot’s impact since replacing Jurgen Klopp, he said: “From the very beginning, Slot introduced clear tactical ideas, and as a group, we’ve embraced them.
It’s impressive how smoothly he has taken over after a legend like Klopp. We’re all dedicated to working hard and delivering success for him.”
With one goal and two assists in his last three games, Mac Allister is eager to build on his performances. “I love scoring and assisting, and I’m always striving to improve my numbers. I’m happy with my contributions but believe there’s still more I can achieve.”
