Mohamed Salah has dropped a major update on his Liverpool contract situation just days before their game against Manchester United.
Salah has been in exceptional form this season, netting 20 goals in all competitions.
He’ll be aiming to increase his tally of 17 Premier League goals when his team faces Manchester United on Sunday.
Ahead of the Anfield showdown, Salah spoke to Sky Sports, discussing his ongoing contract situation.
He confirmed that this will be his final year at the club, with his contract expiring at the season’s end.
“The main goal was to win the Premier League with Liverpool. I always mention the Champions League, but this is the first time I’ve said I really want to win the Premier League with Liverpool. It’s probably because we didn’t celebrate the title we won with the club the way we hoped,” he shared.
“And coming back here, since it’s my final year with the club, I want to do something special for the city. We waited 30 years for that title, won it during the pandemic, and couldn’t celebrate it properly. Hopefully, we can do that this year.”
When asked if he truly believes this will be his last season at Liverpool, the 32-year-old responded: “So far? Yes. With just six months remaining, there’s been no progress, and we’re far from any agreement. We’ll just have to wait and see.”
This isn’t the first time Salah has addressed his future at Liverpool, as he shared insightful thoughts in a post-match interview following his standout performance against West Ham United last weekend.
After the win at the London Stadium, Arne Slot praised the talented winger, stating: “Mo and the term extraordinary are something I’ve heard often over the past six months. He truly deserves it. He doesn’t surprise us. We know his ability and what he can achieve.
“He works hard off the ball too, when the opposition has possession. I’d also point out that his goals are often set up by others on the field, but when he’s in those positions, he’s extraordinary.”
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has built a legendary legacy with the club.
With 231 goals to his name, he’s helped the team secure Premier League and Champions League titles. The Egyptian forward will aim to lead Liverpool to more victories this season before possibly moving on.
