Barcelona is facing difficulties in keeping one of their key players for the upcoming season, as multiple top European clubs show increased interest. With the player’s contract nearing expiration and no renewal agreement in place, his future at Camp Nou is uncertain. Pressure is mounting from interested clubs, putting Barcelona in a tough spot.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo has agreed to join Juventus during the winter transfer window. After recovering from injury and playing again for Barcelona, Araujo hinted at the possibility of leaving. Juventus has been pursuing Araujo for a while to strengthen their defense and has reportedly reached a verbal agreement with him, now awaiting Barcelona’s approval. Additionally, Araujo’s Spanish passport makes him eligible for a transfer to Juventus, which has no spots left for non-EU players this season.
The newspaper also mentioned that talks between the two clubs are ongoing. Juventus’ management, led by Cristiano Giuntoli, hopes to persuade Barcelona to loan Araujo this month, marking their first winter signing. If Araujo leaves on a free transfer, interested clubs could offer him a €15 million bonus and a significantly higher salary than his current earnings at Barcelona.
