Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah are all approaching the end of their contracts with Liverpool, leaving their futures at the club uncertain.
With only six months left on their current deals, no agreements have been reached, raising concerns about their long-term positions at Anfield.
There has been growing speculation about Alexander-Arnold’s future, with reports linking him to Real Madrid. Madrid is said to have approached Liverpool for the right-back before the transfer window opened, but their offer was quickly rejected.
However, new reports suggest Madrid is now ready to bid £20 million to sign him this month, rather than wait until his contract expires in the summer.
Although Liverpool is unlikely to allow key players to leave during a title race, there remains a risk that Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, and Salah could depart as free agents in the near future.
Salah’s Contract Uncertainty
Mohamed Salah has been the most vocal about his uncertain future, revealing that contract talks have stalled.
Despite his impressive performances this season, with 21 goals and 17 assists, his long-term future at Liverpool remains unclear.
Former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink criticized the club’s handling of Salah’s situation, suggesting they should let him go because of his age. “If I were Liverpool’s owner, I’d let Salah leave. He’s turning 33 and wants a three-year deal, which doesn’t make sense given his wage demands,” Hasselbaink commented. He also argued that the club should have resolved the issue sooner.
Recent reports indicate that Salah is close to agreeing on a two-year extension, but unresolved matters, such as image rights, have delayed finalizing the deal.
Nevertheless, there is hope that an agreement can be reached, which would significantly benefit Liverpool’s long-term plans.
Manager Stays Focused
Despite the ongoing speculation, Liverpool manager Arne Slot emphasized his focus on the team’s performance rather than external distractions.
“If anything is bothering the players, they’ll talk to me,” Slot said. “Right now, our priority is improving our game, not external rumors.”
With the futures of three key players uncertain, Liverpool faces the critical task of securing their contracts or risking losing them on free transfers.
