Liverpool have outpaced Manchester City and Manchester United to secure the signing of a £60m European star. The player has agreed to a six-year contract with the club, with a jersey number reportedly reserved for him in tribute to Trent Alexander-Arnold. Welcome to Anfield!

Milos Kerkez is reportedly leaning towards a move to Liverpool over Manchester’s top clubs if he decides to leave Bournemouth this year.

Liverpool has been monitoring several left-back options, including Patrick Dorgu, El Hadji Malick Diouf, and Antonee Robinson, to strengthen the position. With Andy Robertson’s form declining and Kostas Tsimikas struggling for consistent starts, the left-back role has become a concern for many LFC fans.

Positive news has emerged for Liverpool in their pursuit of Kerkez. According to The i Paper, Liverpool and both Manchester clubs have made contact with the player’s representatives, and Kerkez is said to favor a move to Anfield. Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director, who helped facilitate Kerkez’s transfer to Bournemouth 18 months ago, is reportedly a key factor in the player’s preference for Liverpool over the Manchester clubs.

While Bournemouth has no immediate plans to sell Kerkez in January, a bid around £50 million could convince the club to consider a deal.

Securing Kerkez would be a significant win for Hughes and Liverpool, especially after a quiet summer transfer window, an inactive January, and ongoing contract talks with key players like Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Hughes has faced criticism from some Reds fans on social media, but signing Kerkez could help quiet those critics.

Upgrading the left-back position remains a priority for Liverpool, though it’s more likely to happen in the summer rather than this month. In the meantime, Arne Slot will rely on Tsimikas and hope Robertson regains his top form.

Despite not having standout underlying performance stats, Kerkez has been widely praised for his displays at Bournemouth this season, with Jamie Carragher noting the 21-year-old’s aggressive style, which mirrors Robertson’s early days at Liverpool.

When Liverpool visits Vitality Stadium on February 1, Kerkez may see it as an opportunity to showcase his talents for a potential summer move to Anfield—assuming he hasn’t already signed with another club by then.

If Hughes can secure Kerkez ahead of the Manchester clubs, it would be a major achievement and could help restore faith among his critics.
