Reds’ European run rolls on as Mohamed Salah nets his 50th Champions League goal against 10-man Lille

Perhaps it hits him when he’s sitting in his Aston Martin, stuck in the usual traffic on his drive home from training. Or maybe it’s when he’s locked away in his office, reviewing clips of upcoming opponents.

Seven wins from seven, securing a spot in the Champions League knockout stages without a single slip-up, sitting at the top of the Premier League with just one loss, and still alive in both domestic cups. We won’t mention the ‘Q’ word just yet, but it’s becoming a conversation that will soon be impossible to avoid.

French side Lille, who played the final 30 minutes with 10 men after Aissa Mandi’s red card, became the latest team to fall at the so-called ‘Slot penitentiary,’ as goals from Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott helped Liverpool maintain their perfect record in Europe under the Dutch manager.

This means they can make significant rotations for next week’s trip to Eindhoven to face PSV, as they’ve already secured the top spot in their group in this revamped Champions League – the Swiss model system that fans, players, and managers are still uncertain about, unsure whether they love it or hate it.
