Dani Olmo’s return to action remains uncertain, raising concerns within the club about his prolonged absence.
According to journalist Javier Miguel via AS, there is still no definitive timeline for his recovery.
Olmo, one of the club’s major signings this summer, has featured in only about 30% of matches this season due to injuries and registration complications.
What happened to Olmo?
Earlier this month, he suffered an overload injury in the soleus muscle of his right leg, causing him to miss three games across all competitions.
The injury occurred during a match against Getafe, where he played just 28 minutes after replacing Gavi in the 62nd minute.
Despite his brief time on the field, Olmo experienced discomfort in his leg, and medical tests later confirmed a muscle overload. Initially, his recovery was expected to take around ten days, but that timeline has already passed, and he has yet to return to training.
As a result, Olmo is now set to miss more than two weeks, including the upcoming match against Alavés.
Concern for Barcelona
The ongoing injury issues are a growing concern for the club, especially since Olmo has already been sidelined for a significant portion of the season.
Before this latest setback, the Spanish international had already missed over a month due to a femoral biceps tear in his right leg. These injuries, along with complications surrounding his registration, have prevented him from being a consistent part of the squad.
While Olmo’s return date remains uncertain, there is more clarity regarding Íñigo Martínez’s situation. The center-back’s return will be a boost for Hansi Flick, providing a key defensive leader whose experience and presence could be crucial against Alavés.
