Reports indicate that Marcus Rashford does not blame Ruben Amorim for his current struggles at Manchester United. Instead, he believes a club executive played a key role in pushing him out.
Initially, Amorim’s arrival was expected to rejuvenate Rashford’s career at Old Trafford. However, rather than providing a fresh start, the managerial change seems to have hastened his departure.
Since scoring 30 goals in the 2022/23 season, Rashford has struggled with form and consistency, facing criticism for both his performances and attitude. United have been open to offloading him, but his high wages have posed a challenge. However, reports now suggest he is close to securing a loan move to Aston Villa.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic:
“Aston Villa are nearing an agreement to sign Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United. The deal isn’t finalized yet, as some details still need to be settled.”
Negotiations have advanced significantly, with Villa working to finalize financial terms, meet United’s salary demands, and secure Rashford’s approval. The chance to play in the Champions League is reportedly a key factor in his decision, and Villa manager Unai Emery supports the move. The deal is expected to include an option to buy, with Villa covering a large portion of Rashford’s wages and offering performance-based incentives.
Meanwhile, The Sun reports that Rashford and Amorim had a falling out soon after the coach’s arrival. The tension reportedly began when Amorim accused Rashford of breaking club rules by partying before United’s match against Everton on December 1.
A source told The Sun:
“Amorim confronted Marcus, believing he had gone out before the game. Marcus denied it, asked for proof, and even questioned, ‘Are you calling me a liar?’ Their relationship never recovered from that, making it hard to see a way forward.”
Despite this, Rashford believes his impending exit is being driven by United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe rather than Amorim. The source added:
“Marcus is convinced that Sir Jim wants him out and has directed Amorim to move him on. He feels unfairly singled out. During early training sessions under Amorim, multiple players struggled to adapt to the new system, but Rashford believes he was the only one publicly criticized.”
While Rashford recognizes that leaving United may now be inevitable, he is reportedly surprised by the lack of strong interest from major clubs, with financial factors such as wages and transfer fees discouraging potential suitors.
The source concluded:
“Marcus is shocked by how quickly his relationship with Amorim deteriorated. He knows he has to move on, but he’s surprised that no top club has made a serious push to sign him.”
