Arsenal player ‘agrees deal to leave the club’ with hours to go on deadline day

One Arsenal star has reportedly agreed a deal to leave the Emirates Stadium with just an hour left in the transfer window.

On Sunday afternoon, Arsenal delivered their most impressive performance of the season, defeating reigning champions Manchester City 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium. Goals from Martin Ødegaard, Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri sealed the convincing victory, bringing Arsenal to within six points of league leaders Liverpool.

Despite the ongoing injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka, Arsenal has not yet made any first-team signings in the January transfer window.

Amid this, reports in Italy have claimed that midfielder Jorginho has agreed to a pre-contract deal with Flamengo, with his contract at Arsenal set to expire in June. When asked about his future earlier this month, Jorginho said, “My contract is until June and my goal now is to think about the next game, which is in three days. There’s not much to think about, you know? Things happen very quickly in football, things can happen overnight, but my mind is on the next game.”

Jorginho also added: “Football is a box of surprises, as we all know, but my goal is to think about the next game. I don’t even look, because it always happens. Every window that opens is always crazy, with a lot of information, a lot of things, a lot of talk.

“But if you stop to think about all the talk you always have, then you end up wasting a lot of energy and it ends up affecting your work where you are. So my goal, as I said before, is to focus on where I am, which is here today, so that’s it.”

Arsenal will be back in action on Wednesday night, facing Newcastle United in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
