Jamie Carragher immediately calls for ban after seeing what happened in Newcastle vs Arsenal

Jamie Carragher has called for a ban after witnessing something during Newcastle United vs. Arsenal.

Newcastle entered tonightโ€™s Carabao Cup second leg against Arsenal with a two-goal advantage from their victory at the Emirates last month.

Eddie Howeโ€™s side extended their aggregate lead in the 19th minute when Jacob Murphy found the net.

Anthony Gordon doubled Newcastleโ€™s lead on the nightโ€”making it 4-0 on aggregateโ€”in the 52nd minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake. Fabian Schar intercepted a miscontrolled pass from David Raya to Declan Rice, allowing the ball to fall to Gordon, who calmly slotted it home.

After an Arsenal build-up sequence, Jamie Carragher criticized goalkeepers for making risky passes into midfield, suggesting they should be banned from doing so.

On X, he wrote: “Keepers need to be banned from playing those passes into midfield players.”

David Rayaโ€™s misplaced pass to Declan Rice proved costly, as Newcastle capitalized on the mistake to extend their lead.

The match ended 2-0 on the night (4-0 on aggregate), sending Newcastle to the Carabao Cup final.

They will face the winner of Thursdayโ€™s semi-final between Tottenham and Liverpool, with Spurs holding a 1-0 aggregate lead from last monthโ€™s first leg.

This marks Newcastleโ€™s second final in three years, having previously reached the 2023 final, where they lost 2-0 to Manchester United.
