By order of Hansi Flick… A world-class star, the replacement for De Jong at Barcelona, will arrive for free

Barcelona are actively planning for next season while uncertainty looms over Frenkie de Jong’s future. With no contract renewal in place, the club is seeking a high-quality replacement to avoid potential risks. If De Jong’s deal remains unresolved by summer, Barcelona may opt to sell him rather than risk losing him for free in 2026.

According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has emerged as a prime target. With his contract expiring in 2025 and no renewal progress, Bayern may be forced to sell him this summer. This presents a key opportunity for Barcelona, especially with Hansi Flick endorsing the move.

Kimmich, 29, is seen as an ideal fit for Barcelona’s style and brings versatility, being able to play both in midfield and as a right-back. Flick, who previously coached him to a treble-winning season at Bayern in 2020, highly values his skills.

Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has already initiated talks with Kimmich’s representatives, receiving positive responses. While Bayern would prefer to extend his contract, negotiations have stalled. If De Jong departs, securing Kimmich could be both a strategic and financially sound move.

The club remains committed to pushing forward with the deal, and the next few weeks will be decisive in shaping both De Jong’s fate and Kimmich’s potential arrival.
