Hansi Flick Criticizes Barcelona Star Ha,rshly After Sevilla Match: He Doesn’t Have The Required Level

Barcelona’s dominant 4-1 win over Sevilla secured crucial points for their La Liga title chase, narrowing the gap to just two points behind Real Madrid. However, not everything went according to plan for Hansi Flick’s side, as reported by El Nacional. The German coach expressed concern over Ronald Araujo’s recent performance, particularly during the Sevilla match, where the Uruguayan made a costly mistake that allowed the opposition to score after a mishandled offside trap.

This error, coupled with an injury sustained shortly after, led to Araujo being substituted in the first half. With his departure, Barcelona’s defense seemed to solidify, as Pau Coparsi and Iñigo Martínez formed a solid partnership that saw no further goals conceded. The shift in defensive strength raised questions about Araujo’s fit within the team, particularly as his adaptation to Flick’s tactical demands remains a concern.

The competition for the central defender spots has become fierce, with Coparsi, Martínez, and even Eric García putting in stronger performances. Given Barcelona’s financial situation, the club may entertain offers for Araujo next summer, despite his contract renewal. Should Araujo fail to step up his performances, his future at the club could be at risk, with teams like Bayern Munich and Manchester United reportedly interested in his services.

It looks like Flick has already settled on Coparsi and Martínez as his preferred defensive pairing, and Araujo will need to significantly improve his game to earn his place back in the starting lineup.
