Guardiola offers Barca a players swap: Pedri for 25-year-old Man City midfielder

Pep Guardiola remains very interested in signing Pedri González, continuing to view the Barcelona star as an ideal addition for Manchester City. With the departures of Julián Álvarez to Atlético de Madrid and Oscar Bobb sidelined due to a serious injury, City is looking to strengthen its squad, even after signing Savio Moreira.

Guardiola has long admired Pedri, having previously attempted to secure his services, though he was unable to reach an agreement with Barcelona president Joan Laporta at the time. However, the situation has changed significantly following the dismissal of Xavi Hernández and the appointment of Hans-Dieter Flick as the new manager, who does not see Pedri as untouchable.

With players like Fermín López, Frenkie de Jong, Ilkay Gündogan, and Dani Olmo already in place, Barcelona may be more willing to part with Pedri, especially if they can secure a significant fee. The midfielder is valued at over €80 million, an amount that Manchester City could afford with ease.

City’s substantial budget means money is not an obstacle, and Pedri is seen as a potential long-term successor to Kevin de Bruyne, who plans to move to Saudi Arabia in 2025. Guardiola’s side may also attempt to lower the transfer fee by including a player not in Guardiola’s plans, such as Matheus Nunes, who has struggled to make an impact since joining last year.
