Barcelona midfielder Fermín López has boldly declared his belief that he will play in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League final on May 31.
In an interview with Sport, López recalled celebrating Barça’s last Champions League triumph as a 12-year-old and expressed confidence that he will be part of the team competing for the trophy this season.
“This is an admirable display of self-belief,” as Barcelona must first navigate the Round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals to reach the final. López has already made an impact in the competition this season, featuring in six matches, scoring once, and providing two assists.
In addition, López has dismissed suggestions that he is merely Hansi Flick’s “supersub,” emphasizing his ambition to play a key role in the team. He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by his parents, attributing much of his success to their support.
The young midfielder has had a challenging journey to the first team, admitting that he struggled at times and needed help along the way. However, his determination and resilience have positioned him as one of Barça’s promising talents heading into the decisive phase of the season.
