France’s head coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that Kylian Mbappé will rejoin the national team for their Nations League quarter-final against Croatia in March. The Real Madrid forward, who joined the club in July 2024, was absent from France’s October and November fixtures due to a mix of personal challenges, physical issues, and his adjustment to life in Madrid. However, Deschamps reassured that Mbappé has regained full fitness and remains committed to the national team.
“He’s very attached to the French team, even if he’s had a complicated personal period. He’s back to full fitness, and you can see that in his game, and in his head too,” Deschamps said.
Despite previous absences, Mbappé will retain his leadership role within the squad. Meanwhile, Deschamps addressed his own future, confirming he will not extend his contract beyond 2026. While French Football Federation President Philippe Diallo stated it’s too early to discuss a successor, Deschamps expressed support for Zinedine Zidane as a potential future coach.
Mbappé’s return is a major boost for France as they prepare for their crucial match against Croatia, aiming to advance further in the Nations League.
